Optimal routes calculated using the VISIR-2 model for a First-367 sailboat journey between Monemvasia (Greece) and Marmaris (Turkey). The routes optimised for the shortest travel time are depicted in red, and the route with the shortest distance is indicated in blue. The wind magnitude field is depicted in varying shades of grey with accompanying black arrows indicating its direction, while currents are represented by purple streamlines.The percentage duration savings of the least-time routes are computed relative to the least-distance route. If the least-distance route is unfeasible given the prevailing wind conditions, the saving is denoted as "nan."
