Hello and welcome. In the last video we have seen why airplanes are flying and it was the same reason why
rotor blades of wind turbines are rotating. Nevertheless there is a difference between airplanes and wind turbines. And that we can see when we have a look to this airplane. And when I assume now I am sitting or standing on the wings of this airplane, then you could
see that my beautiful hair is just going to the back of my body because the airplane is moving into this direction. And that would be exactly the same when we have a look to this wind turbine. And at the position of the rotor blades you can see that this wind turbine is not in movement.
So if I would stand now or sit on the rotor blades we would see exactly the same like with the airplane. The hair is going in direction of the wind direction. But now there is a difference. The wind turbine when it is in operation has a movement around its own axis, it is rotating.
In the airplane case that would mean the airplanes is doing this movement. And I am sure you would not like to fly with such an airplane, not a long distance flight for sure. But when we have the same position, I am sitting or lying now on this wing of the airplane
and we have this rotating movement, then you can see my hair is not going anymore behind myself in direction of the way the airplane is flying but is going more to the left side. And that is the same when we have a wind turbine.
In this picture the big one in front is again the one that is not in operation. We can see this in the position of the rotor blades. But the smaller one, there you see the rotor blades are almost 90 degrees shifted. And when I am now standing on such a rotor blade of a wind turbine that is moving here
clockwise, you can see that my hair is not anymore moving into the direction of the wind but has this second component of the movement of the rotor blades on its own.
And again we can see that my beautiful hair is not anymore in this direction but is going to the left side here. And that is also the reason why rotor blades of wind turbines look completely different than the wings of an airplane. And that we will have a look on in all the rest of this video series.
