This video explains how to construct the crystal structure of kalifersite using TotBlocks, a series of 3D-printed building blocks. Kalifersite’s structure consists of alternating double- and triple-chain-width T-O-T modules connected by palysepiole-type linkages. Essentially, it consists of both palygorskite-like and sepiolite-like modules. Compared to palygorskite and sepiolite, kalifersite is missing octahedral sites and will require the use of specific Z₃ and Z₆ O modules in its construction.
