Abstract
Digital Credentials are digital records that proof learning outcomes and qualifications achieved in different contexts. The automatic verifiability of such credentials forms the basis for their secure and efficient exchange. The Blockchain technology can be a catalyst for cooperation between geographically distributed and heterogeneous educational providers, as it offers the advantage of storing data not at a central instance, but in copy distributed over the entire network. This is a strength with regard to concerns about central storage raised by both political and civil society. Following an intro by the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) as the session host, experts behind international projects on digital credentialling that rely on the Blockchain technology - DigiCerts, the Digital Credentials Consortium and EduCTX - will discuss the joint chances and challenges faced by these and related projects running worldwide. A mixed review/discussion article by iit and the interviews behind it inspired this session: "Manipulationssichere und per Knopfdruck verifizierbare Digital Credentials: Die Blockchain als Initiator internationaler Kooperationsprojekte". This will come out as part of an HFD collection in early 2021. An English version is planned!
