00:04
Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for coming to this presentation. I'm Han-Jin Lee, and I'm in charge of web platform developed at Mango system.
00:22
So, what I'd like to talk about today is PinotGeo, which was developed based on free open source software for geospatial.
00:41
Before we begin, let me introduce my company, Mango system. What we do is system develop data construction,
01:00
open source software education, and consulting related to GIS. Also, translate the open source project into Korean. Recently, translate the geonetwork on Transpix.
01:23
We are here. Please come visit our booth. Now, let's begin the presentation about PinotGeo. PinotGeo is a web map visualization platform using open or private data to make you one map,
01:44
and to share with your network of people. In fact, there's already some service that are cloud-based for mapping, like Mapbox, Geonord, Cut2DB, and ArcGIS Online.
02:01
We need to provide the differentiated service, and we have done so and developed our program to maximize our property. We will focusing on map data visualization.
02:21
So, how can you get open data? The load that use and share of data has been impact since November 2014 in Korea. Data output has been actively contacted. Let's take an example in Korea.
02:44
First of all, there's a NA Center. NA Center is a national special information clearinghouse. You can download the most recent area boundary in Korea. Secondly, Open Data Portal.
03:01
So, this website provides open data, which is made by government, organization, and local authority to ever use according to the law. Open Data Portal provides many kinds of data, including file, data, map, and open API.
03:22
So, next there is Seoul Open Data Portal. This is the most progressive of data compared to many other local government in Korea. Seoul Open Data Portal provides and share public data about the city of Seoul.
03:45
So, you can download various type of the data, including sheet type, like Excel, CSV, and just data like shape, DXF, Gmail.
04:01
Many country provide Open Data Portal service. Anyway, anytime we can get the open data. Now, back to Pinocchio. I'm going to explain to you our,
04:21
sorry, about our special features. Pinocchio service architecture is based on open source GIS platform structure. I think you all know this structure very well. As well as two web mapping library,
04:41
and we have changed them all to OA3. So, as I mentioned earlier, we have thoroughly researched and developed to maximize our property, and we have powerful GIS engine named GXT.
05:03
GXT is a geo-processing function developed to provide a variety of commercial space in a data analysis engine is Java-based library, described before geo-tools and GTS.
05:22
So, some of them, 213 geo-processing algorithm. It was compared with Arc toolbox for the result of the verification. Of course, he used 60 trial version.
05:41
Yeah, GXT geo-processing can be used to unique programming type, you can be update site, you can be update on this site. So, since the version for research and education is free,
06:02
but we can be preventively use as well. Relationship of GXT and PinotGeo will be explained later. PinotGeo is split into three service category, which are data, rail, maps.
06:23
Basically, the interface includes those three category, and we design REST API service to customize user interface according to customizer requirement. Another special feature of PinotGeo are base map
06:41
and zone layer. But zone layer is the tile map service using mango base map, which is built on open data and open street map. When you work with special analysis, you need a boundary data, such as administrative area,
07:03
so we provide zone layer as basic boundary data. There is a national point number in Korea. This is a grid map. Using this grid map, you can get a more precise
07:22
category. So, I'm going to tell you about the data, which is the first service category of PinotGeo. With this function, you can unload your GIS format data and text data with location information.
07:43
Using GeoTwist library, it can cover various type of data. Also, you can publish to map server you map. Recent version, you can unload back to data format, such as shape, CSV, Excel.
08:01
Secondly, it's rail. Now, it's time to transfer your unloaded data to rail. Before I mention, using GeoTwist is a powerful geo-processing engine. You can create various and clear info-graphing map.
08:26
We implement these to use for point data mostly. They are special analysis technique, such as simple, symbolize, hit map, pitch net, hexagon, and special statistics rail.
08:41
And we will add more special analysis methods. You can get you one cartogram of overlaying point data in two zone rail by special query using like, count, sum, mean, animal functions.
09:04
And you can also make pitch net and hexagon polygon rail simply put in width and height of boundary data of radius. You can check out the location and size
09:20
of future with preview map window. After selecting column and statistic function, you can create a new rail that has statistic values. And then you can style your rail for easy to identify.
09:40
When you style your rail, you can simply put into column, classify method, pill and stroke value that you want. Then you can make a color policy map this visualize statistics value. Yeah, we use color below two with pill color option.
10:05
When you style your map, color below is a useful tool that anyone like me can use to make beautiful map without artistic skill.
10:20
We made JavaScript styling library, which is a Pinot style JS, based on bootstrap, JQL UI, color picker, and color below to use another project. Pinot style JS has been used various project.
10:41
Specifically, UN GGIMAP, VGI portal, use this as a style tool. Now, I want to show you some sample rail we made. This map is the number of major dam of the USA status.
11:03
We use US status boundary polygon rail and major dam point rail as a base data. And we got some data from US census and data.gov.
11:20
This is the old building recent condition, statistic grid map using national point number. Next sample is, sorry, next sample I'm going to show you is Jeju Iceland population,
11:42
recent condition, visualize the hexagon rail. Jeju Iceland is the most population travel destination and beautiful Iceland in Korea. It's only one hour away from Seoul to Jeju by airplane.
12:01
By the way, Jeju Iceland was the first place we want to hold FOSG conference. We are considered. Anyway, as you can see, there are more population near provincial government building
12:21
than near Jeju International Airport. Here Jeju International Airport, here government building, yeah. And you can also see the most populations but change according to weather changing.
12:43
We use the protein population data based on big data of mobile teletraffic information of base station. Finally, map. Pinogio provide various map template
13:00
to create the U1 map with rail you made early. Also, you can share with it as URL. You can overlay rail like stack of hand. So there are setting area and preview area
13:23
on the map template. We will provide swipe, preload, chart and table template soon. When you select your map template and click publish your map button,
13:40
you can move to this page now you are look at. Then you add or change parameter with setting window. You can directly apply to your preview map. On setting window, you can put parameter
14:01
with following step. Setting metadata, adding rail and selecting map option. You can also add multiple rail and simply drag and drop can change the order of rails.
14:21
As you can see, they are map title, description of map and zoom control on your map. When you get geo result map, you can share your visualization with anyone, library or publicly.
14:42
You can also customize the map template and we will keep adding more template. I'm supposed to have a Q&A session today but I can't give you an answer, sorry.
15:04
But if you have any question about Pinocchio or this presentation, please send me an email and hit me up on my Twitter. I hope enjoyed presentation and enjoy Seoul.
15:25
Thank you. Thank you very much. Okay, so we, hold on a second. We will be sending questions to email and Twitter but we've got about seven minutes also to ask you right now if you don't mind. That was a great talk, thank you very much
15:41
and beautiful maps, I think. Really, really nice. I'm glad you picked Seoul instead of Jeju because we've got beautiful weather, very convenient for us. Next time, Jeju, okay? So, any questions from the floor? I've got a few questions but anybody out there with any questions?
16:01
Okay, there's one. Microphone please, thank you. Is it open source? I mean, you mentioned the Pinocchio and also the Pinostylers and the people can see the source and use that?
16:25
We will Pinostyle JS, excuse me. Jeju, translate.
16:45
Yeah. Pinostyle JS.
17:13
Pinostyle JS is, there can be.
17:25
Okay, wait a minute. My name is Sorye Jeong.
18:08
Okay, no, thank you very much. I think that's a clear answer to the question, right? Okay, I saw some other people getting ready to ask. Yeah, maybe? Well, think about it for a second. I wanted to ask you about raster data
18:27
because you've done some very nice vector mapping and let's say I have a raster with maybe climate data or some other land use data. Is it possible to query down into the raster
18:41
with your system or how does that work? We support raster data, geotiff or another type. But now we can't support raster data.
19:01
So there are plans for moving that way, do you think? Pardon? Do you have plans in the future to expand that? Yeah, yeah. We have plan, we have plan. Okay, good. We oppose raster data format. Okay, very good. Anything else?
19:21
Okay, fine then.
