Englisch Parrots live almost without exception in individualized permanent monogamous pair bonds. The particular intensity of its pair bond behaviour has given the genus Agapornis the name of "lovebirds". The film shows the courtship attempts of an inexperienced breeding pair as well as the courtship and copulation of a very experienced breeding pair. The film documents the significance of individual experience both in the integration of genetically fixed behavioural elements into complex courtship activities and for the synchronisation of pair behaviour. |
