Englisch | Englisch We see the caricature of an oracle séance. It is meant as a funny interlude during the long performance of the play "Nangsa" staged by members of a Lha mo-group. The scene itself has no connection at all with the content of this play. The actors give nethertheless a very true picture of the actual happenings during a real oracle séance: the oraclepriest wears all the ritually prescribed ornates and accessoirs, accepts offerings and makes offerings, falls into trance, which means that the deity takes possession of the priest, and dictates during this trance the god's answers to a clumsy secretary. This situation bears a number of comic scenes which the public follows and enjoys with delight. |
