Abraham, the village chieftain of Shivankoreni, dries pieces of liana at the fire. Then he cuts two pieces of liana into a tinderbox (twirling stick and hearth). The epidermis scraped off the sharpened tube serves as tinder. The piece of liana with the pointed end (twirling stick) is placed in the notch or hollow of the piece (hearth) on the floor. The hearth is held in place by the chieftain's legs. Abraham turns the twirling stick quickly with both palms, holding the twirling stick at the top and letting his hands gradually slide down; then he immediately grasps the stick at the top again and continues to turn, until the tinder begins to smoke. He blows on the tinder and puts a dry leaf on it; this begins to burn.
