The film shows mutual greeting of adult purple heron at the nest and feeding of small young. The greeting ceremony resembles that of the grey heron. To start with body, neck and bill are stretched straight upwards. Later a bending of the anklejoints can be observed and the head is cast over the back. The food is regurgitated onto the floor of the nest and not directly into the throat of the young.
