Zwei Frauen aus der Siedlung Tuo auf Fenualoa sammeln herabgefallene Strandkastanien und tragen sie im Korb nach Hause. Dort bereiten sie den Erdofen vor, legen die geschälten Früchte auf die heißen Steine und bedecken sie mit Taroblättern. Die gedünsteten Früchte werden nochmals geschält und dann gegessen.

North of Tuo on Fenualoa (Ngasinue) two women gather beach chestnuts (Inoarpus edulis Forster). Then, on their estate on the west coast of the island, they prepare an earth oven and partly pell the beach chestnuts which are then stewed between the heated stones in the pit, this being finally covered over with leaves. Before the fruit is eaten, the remaining peel (heat protection) is removed.
