Auf die Innenseite eines Schaffells wird eine Handmühle gelegt. Der obere Mahlstein wird an einem schrägstehenden Stiel um die Holzachse des unteren Steins gedreht. Durch das Achsloch wird Roggen geschüttet, der als Mehl zwischen den Reibflächen hervortritt und auf das Fell fällt. Nach dem Mahlen wird das Mehl gesiebt.

On the inside of a sheep skin a cord, laid in a spiral and on that the conical lower part of a hand mill are set. The upper milling stone is laid on its milling surface. This is turned on a slanting handle around the wooden axle of the lower stone. Grain is poured into the axle opening which then appears as flour between the grinding surfaces and falls onto the skin. After milling the flour is sieved.
