Während der Trockenzeit werden riesige Mengen von Wasserpflanzen (Eichhornia azurea) im See gesammelt, am Ufer getrocknet und verbrannt. Im Dorf wird die Pflanzenasche mit Wasser ausgelaugt und die Lösung eingedampft. Zurück bleibt ein hellgraues, pottaschehaltiges Salz (überwiegend KCl).

During the dry season quantities of aquatic plants (Eichhornia azurea) are collected in the lake, dried on the bank and burnt to ashes. In the village the ashes are lixiviated and the solution is evaporated. The result is light-grey potassium salt (chiefly KCl).
