Die für die Filmaufnahme bestellten sieben Musiker spielen ein bekanntes Stück der zeremoniellen Gondang-Musik, die heute noch, vor allem bei den Ahnen- und Totenfesten, zur Begleitung der Zeremonialtänze erklingt. Die Besetzung besteht aus einer Sarunei (Oboe), dem Trommelspiel Taganing mit fünf Trommeln, der Baßtrommel Gordang sowie vier Gongs (Ogung) und der Aufschlagplatte Hesek-hesek. Somba-somba bedeutet Anbetung, Verehrung (früher des höchsten Gottes der Batak).

The seven musicians chosen for the filmed sequences play a well-known piece of ceremonial Gondang music that is still played today, primarily at festivals for ancestors and the dead, to accompany the ceremonial dances. The instrumentation consists of a "Sarunei" (oboe), the Taganing drum set with five drums, the Gordang bass drum, as well as four gongs (Ogung) , a "Hesek-hesek" striking plate. Somba-somba means adoration, admiration (in former times of the highest god of the Batak).
