In an interview at the Bektâshî cloister at Djakovica Sheikh Baba Kâzim describes his adventurous life, including his political activities during the chaos of the Balkan War of 1912, the struggle for an independent Albania, and resistance to Ahmed Zogu. After 1926 he became a Bektâshî and, through a career in various cloisters in Albanien speaking areas, rose to the rank of Dede. Today he is the most important representative of the Bektâshî order in the Balkan countries.
