Geometry: Education, Art, and Research (Online) (21w2240)
The Banff International Research Station will host the "Geometry: Education, Art, and Research" workshop online from February 19, 2021 to February 21, 2021. Geometry is all around us. The circles and triangles of the Ancient Greeks have never left us. Film, art, and architecture have all been touched by mathematics and geometry. 3D printing, robotics, and origami are a new wave of geometry. At Geometry: Education, Art, and Research, leading researchers pair up with educators and artists to push the boundaries of contemporary geometry. The workshop organizers will send out the Zoom meeting links at a later date. The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
