MOOD Summer School 2022

The MOOD summer school was the first capacity-building event run within the Horizon-2020 ‘MOnitoring Outbreaks for Disease surveillance in a data science context’ project with the aim of improving knowledge on epidemic intelligence for disease surveillance, including identification of re-emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, the changing drivers fueling disease spread, and surveillance and early warning techniques in pandemic threats. From June 20th till June 22nd in Montpellier (France), lecturers from and outside the MOOD consortium shared their expertise to improve hands-on skills through the use of MOOD tools and targetting young researchers in health data. With the funds provided by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 ‘Research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 874850), the MOOD project aims at taking advantage of data mining, analysis and visualization of health, environmental and other data to enhance the utility of event-based surveillance (EBS). Ultimately, MOOD is supporting the work of European and global public and veterinary health agencies and surveillance practitioners by providing existing monitoring platforms with novel features, and methodological and practical support adapted to their needs.
