Multi-Stage Stochastic Optimization for Clean Energy Transition (19w5091)
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "Multi-Stage Stochastic Optimization for Clean Energy Transition" workshop in Oaxaca, from September 22, 2019 to September 27, 2019. The energy sector is expected to incorporate a growing share of random renewable energy, while minimizing costs. This challenge leads to large-scale multistage stochastic optimization problems. The workshop Multi-Stage Stochastic Optimization for Clean Energy Transition will gather international experts, both from academy and from industry, to work together on advances in numerical approaches to solve such problems. The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
