Zerspanen von Stahl 16 MnCr 5

The film shows how chippings are produced from a polished and etched testing workpiece made of casehardening steel 16MnCr 5 during orthogonal cutting. The individual areas and stages of deformation during the formation of flowing chips are particularly worth watching in this markedly ferrito-perlitic structure. The effect of the cutting speed (0.01 to 5 m/min.) is shown firstly in the formation of pick-up on the cutting edge, which assumes unusual shapes particularly with large items, so that the formation of chips is also affected by the changed geometry of the cutting edges.

Ferromagnetische Schichten - Wandflattern

The Bloch wall streaming in evaporated anisotropic 81/19 Ni-Fe films between 150 and 240 nm thick is shown. It has been made visible by means of the Kerr magnetooptic effect. Wall streaming is observed in case a pulse field with a rise time smaller than 20 ns is applied along the hard axis. It consists of small wall steps induced by the gyromagnetic precession of the wall center spins around the rising pulse field. It is, therefore, an impressive demonstration of the connection between the magnetization and the electronic spin. The following topics are shown: 1. Wall streaming including the domain nucleation at the films edge, in a film of 2 mm diameter for different pulse amplitudes. 2. Wall streaming in the central part (nearly not influenced by edge stray fields) of a film of 4 mm diameter, for different pulse amplitudes. 3. Wall streaming in a pulse field of especially low repetition rate (1 instead of 4 pulses per picture frame) for one pulse amplitude.

Ferromagnetische Schichten - Barkhausen-Sprünge

The magnetization reversal of evaporated anisotropic 81/19 Ni-Fe films between 50 and 250 nm thick is shown, for a slowly increased magnetic dc field oriented parallel to their easy axis. The magnetization reversal consists of Barkhausen jumps of the domain walls. They have been made visible in polarized light by means of the Kerr magnetooptical effect. The following topics are shown: 1. The large Barkhausen jumps of the straight walls in a relatively homogeneous film. 2. The domain nucleation in a film the edge of which is visible as well. 3. The irregular domain walls in a film with relatively inhomogeneous magnetic properties.

Ferromagnetische Schichten - Wandkriechen

The domain wall creeping in evaporated anisotropic 81/19 Ni-Fe films is shown. Creeping is observed in case a magnetic field along the easy axis and a pulse or AC magnetic field along the hard axis is applied simultaneously. The domains have been made visible in polarized light by means of the Kerr magnetooptical effect. The wall creeping is shown for films between 80 and 240 nm thick with average crystal sizes of 10 and 50 nm. The influence of the domain nucleation at the film edge and at a scratch, as well as the creeping in the demagnetizing field instead of an applied field along the easy axis, is also shown.

Dan (Westafrika, Elfenbeinküste) - Frauentanz »mati«

In the village of Glekpleple one of these is an aged dancer with her 'rendevous' dance, which she performs on joyous occasions. A chorus of women accompanies her with vocal music and hand-clapping.

Troglops albicans (Malachiidae) - Balz und Kopulation

The film covers the wooing and copulation of Troglops albicans L. In the frontal area of his head, the male has a cavity, around which, in several places, a taste secretion is released. The cavity is offered to the female to nibble at, during which action her taste buds come into contact with the secretion. Repeated intake of the secretion decreases the female's initial aversion to mating. The male tests the willingness to mate by rearward touching of his partner, who remains still when ready to mate. The Troglops wooing is distinguished by the surprisingly energetic activity of the male. The male alternates continuously between the two polar actions: profferance of the cavity and rearward (testing) contact. He glides in a rapid sideways movement along the partner or around her. This 'dance around the female' can last for hours. A little while after begin of copulation, the male subsides into a state of rigidity, whereby he loses retention of the riding position and falls over backwards. After the 'awakening', the original riding position is taken up again. The female attempts to free herself of the copulating male by means of rapid circling movements.

Mitteleuropa, Bayerischer Wald - Flechten einer Schwinge in Herzogsreut

The wood processing home industry has lost a great deal of value but in the Bavarian Forest it is still plays a certain part. The film shows how wood strips of two to three-finger width are split off from logs and how the strips are used for making a "Schwinge" (an oval basket). During the course of this work, the craftsman was interrupted only twice so that the settings reflect the natural continuity of the working process.

Myotis myotis (Vespertilionidae) - Geburt

The film shows the whole birth process in several animals. The beginning of the birth can be recognized from strong movements of the embryo and from the sickle shaped attitude of the cervical patagium of the tail; the mother hangs in such a manner that the axis of her body forms an angle of about 90° to the vertical. The newborn is born in breech presentation, playing an active part itself and coming into the cervical patagrium of the tail. The mother frees it from the embryonal membranes; the young one climbs up to the nipples and attaches itself on by suction. Using its back legs it then hangs laterally, causing the umbilical cord between mother and newborn to become taut. At this point the mother eats up the afterbirth eliminated and bites off the cord. The shots were taken through a glass plate.
