The first part of the film shows the cross-country flight of the two airships LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" and LZ 129 "Hindenburg" over Germany (26th to 29th March 1936). The cities of Ulm, Berlin, Danzig and Marienburg are to be seen. The second part of the film shows a regular passenger flight to New York ending in the catastrophy of Lakehurst (6th May 1937) where the airship exploded during touch down.The film docments the time of highhest activities in civil aerostation and equally the end of rigid airships.

Volkstümliche Töpferei in Westfalen

Clay is cut in a clay-pit and transported on a two-wheeled cart to Ochtrup, where the clay is then stored in a bricklined pit, to "soak". Before processing it is kneaded, first mechanically and then by hand. The master-potter shapes a plate, which is then primed, coated with paint, and finally glazed. The same work procedure is demonstrated on a jug, with the addition of the shaping and attaching of the handle. The film also shows the manufacture of "Ochtrup Nightingales", small, clay warbler-whistles, and finally the baking of various earthenware in an electric kiln.

Mossi (Westafrika, Obervolta) - Gelbguß in "verlorener Form"

Shows the production of small figures using the lost-wax method. Wax models are shaped and covered with damp clay. After the clay has dried the models are fired, which melts the wax away. Previously smelted metal is poured into the remaining cavity of the mold. After cooling, the form is destroyed and the molded figure is decorated with enamel paint.

Java (Indonesien) - Messingguß in "verlorener Form"

This film shows the manufacture of a brass dish by the technique of casting in a dead mold. First a casting made of wood (guarantees standard production) is coated with wax and the resulting wax model - still resting on the mold block - is sheated in moist loam. Then the model is loosened from the mold block and the interior is also coated with clay, whereby casting channels and casting attachment are mounted. The clay mold is then dried and the wax is melted out. The casting material is poured into the resulting cavity. After cooling, the clay coat is broken off. The dish now completed in raw casting is then polished. Two examples of chased work close the film.

The film shows how the Sanghyang dancing girls go into a trance, and while in a trance condition, dance the excorcistic Sanghyang. The dance accompanied by the traditional Ketjak of the men, who while deeply angrossed in performing the sitting dance, strive together with the Sanghyang dancing girls to ward-off threatening evil.
