| Abstract | This 1.5 hr training session will trace the history of the DataCite Metadata Schema and how it has evolved over time. In particular, it will focus on the relationship between DataCite and RDA, charting how community consensus and outputs from RDA IGs and WGs have influenced the development of the DataCite Metadata Schema and related services.
The session will provide an introduction to the DataCite Metadata Schema and highlight how it facilitates interoperability, with a deeper dive into related identifiers and SCHOLIX, the PID Graph, and persistent identifiers for instruments. The session will also inform how tools can be used to interact with DataCite services. Finally, the session ends by looking forward: what future developments there are for the DataCite Metadata Schema and our continued links to RDA through the Implementing FAIR Workflows Project and the recently approved Working with PIDs in Tools IG. |
