Abstract
This presentation provides some empirical insights (dynamic statistical figures and 3d models) into the question of how kinship and family shape health trajectories. This interdisciplinary study uses descriptive elements of sequence analysis and regression analysis based on the high-dimensional balanced panel data from the 7 waves of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE-project.org, waves 1-7) released between 2004 and 2017. The transformation of the traditional family has overlapped with population aging. Social and demographic challenges have increased the diversity of the life course and aging trajectories. Relatively little research has examined the interplay between changing families and health dynamics. However, family relations shape the determinants of health, such as care settings. How kin and family structures impact gender differences in functional health over the second half of life?
