This E-Lecture was developed to honor the supervisor of my "Habilitation" at the University of Wuppertal, Prof. Dr. Gisa Rauh, who retired in February 2013. It shows how the digital revolution, in particular, the computer and the internet, have changed linguistics and discusses the options and chances for linguistic teaching, learning and assessment, as well as research in the 21st century.
