Abstract
All too often, popular websites and apps fail to design for accessibility, unknowingly resulting in a huge loss of users who cannot use or access their site. It's all due to a lack of accessible design. That's around 20% of the world's internet users, or 1.4 billion people in total! In this session, you'll learn how to prepare content, design, and code using techniques that enable those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments, so that the 1.4 billion accessible users can now use your apps effectively. You'll learn to access what your customer's accessibility needs are, as well as how to code with accessibility in mind. You'll learn about ARIA elements and design practices to keep in mind while crafting webpages and app layouts that adhere to Section 508 requirements (The USAs federal requirements for accessibility). Upon completing this session you will have learned to design sites and apps with better UXs that have the farthest reaching user base.
