Abstract
We investigate copper based catalysts for the methanol synthesis from CO2 and H2. For a detailed understanding of the structure-performance relation we investigate the interplay between synthesis, microstructure of the catalyst and the resulting Cu-ZnO synergy. Observations at the atomic level and the study of catalytic reaction induced modifications of the catalyst provide feedback towards an optimized synthesis protocol.
