The film is based on long-term fieldwork relationships between the ethnographer/film-maker/cinematographer and members of a transnationally dispersed Indian family. On the one hand it portrays the daily activities of a mother, whose sons are abroad 'left behind' in India. On the other it makes ethnographic research methods, such as interviewing, participant observation and photo elicidation techniques transparent.
