English | English The film shows how the wallcreeper Tichodroma muraria moves during sandbaths. The bird lies with body and head on a sand-covered stone slab and moves backwards and forwards on the base, making struggling movements sideways with the feet alternately and propping himself up with the wings spread open. In the pauses he cleans his feathers and keeps scratching his head. When the sandbath is over, he goes into sunbath position, standing upright and offering his underside to the sun or, lying flat on the sand, he turns his back to the sun, opening his wings out sideways as far as they will go. |
