Subject Area
The film shows the animals in ebb tide pools of the tidal zone at Al-Ghardaqa on the Red Sea. The animals live stationary. Each has its own cave and any sediment washed in during high tide is removed by using the ambulacral feet as a type of conveyor belt, which creates a semi-circular heap before the caves. Cave and area in front are defended when touched by neighbouring or vagrant by pushes and pressure using the thorned aboral arms side.
