English | English The film depicts locomotion and reproduction of Difflugia oviformis (Rhizopoda, Testacea). At the beginning, the organism is shown with its typical features: eggshaped test, the wall of which is composed of material manufactured within the cell; mononucleate protoplast; and numerous pseudopodia, showing comparatively rapid motion, pulling the cell body forward. Subsequently, one may observe some animals in locomotion, phagocytosing specimens of the green alga Pseudoehlorella. Finally, the process of cell division is demonstrated as a whole, and then with emphasis on some special aspects. |
