In 1998, the discovery of a gold mine in the village of V3 Dimouon in the province of Loba, Burkina Faso, initiated a veritable "gold rush". In the village, where Mossi and Dagara farmers co-reside, the arrival of thousands of gold-diggers led to the creation of a new settlement named "Sanmatenga", which in Mooré means "land of gold". The village people as well as the representative of the gold-diggers recount the discovery of the gold vein. The film follows the different steps of exploiting the gold and shows everyday life in Sanmatenga. |
