English | English Polyangium fuscum: Germination of cysts, development of swarm-colonies. Movement of cells, lysis of bacteria, behaviour of swarm-colonies. Mature cysts are germination on an agar surface. Emigration of young swarms from the cysts is initiated and later we see the gliding movement of single vegetative cells. One of the most characteristic features is the lytic activity of the swarm-cells against foodbacteria (Escherichia coli). The swarms are secreting much slime, which leads to a typical profile of the whole colony. |
