Exemplified by two selected montane systems of the High Asian plateau, the landscape development from the ice age to the present day has been documented. Following the first part, featuring the evidence of ice age glaciation from the main mountain ridge to the foreland, the second part is concerned with current glaciers, their extent, nourishment as well as their geomorphological and ecological conditions. The third part concentrates on a description of the regolithic backfilling of the relief during deglaciation. Landscape development is explained from the glaciogenesis of the relief, incorporating the latest scientific findings. (See film C 1856) |
