Physical geographic investigations (geomorphological, glaciological, climatological) in South Tibet: Trans-Himalaya, Tibetan Himalaya, Northern Slope of the Great Himalaya (Shisha Pangma 8,046 m, Mount Everest 8,848 m) on a German-Chinese joint enterprise, the first scientific expedition in which researches from the West reached the Northern flank of Mount Everest. As well as following the expedition (climbing with pack-animals, setting up high-altitude camps etc.), the film shows the working techniques of modern field research and how measurement data are obtained. |
