Abstract
Anas platyrhynchos (Anatidae). Imprinting to the parents occurs in mallards in the sensible phase (8 to 24 hours after hatching). In this time period imprinting to other objects (dummies, people) can also take place. Optical and acoustic stimuli of the object become the key stimuli for the following response. The bond to a replacement object lasts until the ninth week after hatching.
