Abstract
Platycypha caligata and Platycypha fitzsimonsi inhabit fast water brooks of South Africa. Males compete for place on wetted wood, upon which eggs are also layed. They present the freshly wetted wings on the white surface of the spread tibia, and simultaneously push their blue rear body upward as threat to others. Time lapse photography, including of the females laying eggs on the wetted wood.
