Picus viridis, Dendrocopus major. The green woodpecker mostly feeds on the ground. With its sticky tongue it eats larvae from an anthill. The tongue of the great spotted woodpecker has barbs for spiking its prey. Chiselling a "smithy" for cracking nuts etc. Drinking and bathing.
