Radiodensitometry is a method for the analysis of wood density on the basis of the thickness of the cell walls of the durable tracheids of late wood. X-ray radiography of the wooden drilling cores shows the pale early wood and the darker late wood. By means of the grey tones one can identify a density curve which provides data for the climatological analysis.
