Abstract Die Stevia-Pflanze aus Paraguay enthält einen Süßstoff, der 300mal süßer als Rübenzucker ist. Das so genannte Steviosid kommt in hohen Konzentrationen in den Blättern vor, hat keine Kalorien und bietet gesundheitliche Vorteile. An der Universität Bonn wurden deshalb Anbaumethoden für Stevia rebaudiana (Familie Korbblüter) entwickelt. Die Gewebekultur ist dabei für Zucht und Vermehrung ertragreicher Sorten besser geeignet als Aussaat bzw. Stecklingsvermehrung.
The Stevia-plant from Paraguay contains a sweetener, that is 300 times stronger than sucrose. The socalled steviosid is located in the leafs, has no calories and offers health benefits. At the university of Bonn cultivation-techniques were developed for Stevia rebaudiana (family asteraceae). Tissue-culture proved to be much better for selection and reproduction of fruitful plants than sowing or scion-proliferation.
