Abstract
Thanasimus formicarius bark beetles boring into the bark of spruce trunks. The first attempt to overwhelm a typographus beetle fails, because the beetle has already bored too deep into the bark. Another typographus beetle and several Pityogenes chalcographus L. are captured and then eaten.
