Abstract
This animation presents a numerical simulation of stationary dune migration using OpenFOAM and the sedExnerFoam solver, which models sediment transport and morphodynamic evolution. The flow is treated as unidirectional, and turbulence is modeled using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with a k-ω SST turbulence model. Initially, the dune is conic in shape and undergoes rapid morphological changes as it interacts with the flow. Over time, the dune reaches a stationary regime where it migrates at a constant velocity while maintaining its shape throughout the migration process. This simulation provides insights into the dynamics of dune migration under steady flow conditions, with implications for sediment transport and landform evolution.
