The film describes the problems of soil erosion in the northern drier parts of the Punjab in Pakistan. It shows some of the efforts of the Government of Pakistan to introduce and spread soil conservation measures in a region which is structured mainly by agricultural smallholdings. Erosional damage to the landscape and soil degradation due to traditional land use practices are shown. Such land practices are no longer appropriate because of the increased population pressure on the land. Different approaches to soil conservation in the area are also illustrated, i. e. improved pasture management, terracing of arable fields, afforestation and river bank stabilization.
