Englisch | Englisch The communal prayer at the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, is more festive than a normal Friday prayer. It is embellished with various formalized speeches and songs, which are the background for related recitations by the precensor (imam), muezzin (mü'ezzin = chanter of the call to prayer), and the congregatin. The individual parts of the ritual are indicated by the alternation of the recitations between the imam and the muezzin, and the imam's changing his position appropriately. The imam leads the prayer (rek'a) from in front of the prayer niche (mihrab), but the recitations are performed from the two pulpits. |
